And You Know You Should be Glad

By Bob Greene

"Friendship is all that is eternal....this thing that costs nothing, this thing priceless beyond measuring-never ends. No one can take it away from you."

Journalist and bestselling author Bob Greene recounts how he and four friends, Allen, Chuck, Dan and Jack (they called themselves ABCDJ) grew up together in Ohio, where they built a rich collection of memories to draw upon forever. As they grew up they separated, but they always stayed in contact.

When Jack is diagnosed with terminal cancer at 57, the group of devastated friends reunited and recounted their past together in order to deal with their future. As the five friends gather, we re-live their memories of the restaurant where they met hundreds of times during their adolescence, recall their favorite songs, school memories and countless other recollections of their youth together.

Whether you are lucky enough to have a relationship like these men have had, or wish you did, don't miss this book.

Mark of the Lion
by Suzanne Arruda

Tired of the same old mysteries, check out Suzanne Arruda's new Jade Del Cameron series. A historical mystery set in the 1920's in colonial Africa. The story begins in France during WWI.
Jade, an American ambulance driver, befriends David Worthy. As he dies, he requests that she locate his helf-brother. He implies also that his father met a strange death in Africa.

The search for the brother takes Jade to Nairobi. Here, we meet some interesting characters able to provide more details to the mystery surrounding David's father and brother.

Thanks to Arruda's ability to paint a picture with her vivid descriptions, I'm even more interested in going on a safari some day. She has been able to spin mystery, adventure, romance, and history into one enjoyable read. I look forward to her next Jade Del Cameron book.
